Madison captures record 25th Morris County Tournament championship in dramatic shootout win over West Morris

The legacy of excellence continues for Madison High School field hockey, as the Dodgers secured their record 25th Morris County Tournament title with a thrilling 9-8 shootout victory over West Morris.

After regulation ended in a 1-1 deadlock, Madison’s poise under pressure defined the night. Senior Lindsay Catchpole opened the scoring in the first quarter off a crisp assist from Grace Garrity, giving Madison an early lead. West Morris equalized in the second period when Lexi Buchanan connected on a setup from Abbigail Prata, and the defenses held firm through the rest of regulation and overtime.

In the decisive shootout, both sides traded goals in a tense back-and-forth battle before Madison ultimately prevailed. Catchpole, Caitlin Nallin, Celia Stuart, and Bella Blunda each converted key attempts, with Blunda and Stuart delivering clutch finishes down the stretch to seal the victory.

Goalkeeper Clementine Dickson-Child anchored the defense with five saves, including several critical stops in the shootout to preserve Madison’s championship hopes.

West Morris (14–5) was led by Buchanan and Prata, while goalie Sania Madane made 11 saves in a strong performance.

With the win, Madison (15–3) not only adds another title to its storied history but also extends its reputation as the standard-bearer for excellence in Morris County field hockey. The Dodgers’ 25th county championship underscores the program’s unmatched consistency and championship pedigree.
