Chatham Boys Soccer Captures Morris County Championship with Grit and Defense (their first since 2011)

The Chatham High School boys soccer team secured the Morris County Tournament Championship with a thrilling 1–0 victory over Randolph, capping off an incredible tournament run defined by defense, resilience, and teamwork.

Senior Marco Mannino delivered the decisive moment of the match, heading home the lone goal off a perfectly placed corner from Owen Fraser with just over six minutes remaining. The late strike was all the Cougars needed to clinch the title and complete a tournament in which they did not allow a single goal across four matches.

Chatham’s defensive unit—anchored by seniors Owen Fraser, Braden Faust, and Colin Fitt—once again proved to be the team’s backbone. The Cougars’ back line, combined with standout goalkeeping from Jack Paone, limited Randolph’s scoring chances and demonstrated composure under pressure throughout the final. Paone recorded five saves to earn Chatham’s 11th shutout of the season, bringing his goals-against total to just seven for the year.

The championship capped off an impressive stretch for the fourth-seeded Cougars, who have gone unbeaten in eight of their last nine matches. Their run included a semifinal victory over top-seeded and three-time defending champion Delbarton, a 1–0 upset that set the tone for Chatham’s championship push.
