Chatham Girls Soccer Claims Historic Fifth Straight Morris County Championship
The Chatham High School Girls Soccer team continues to cement its legacy in county history, capturing its fifth consecutive Morris County Tournament Championship with a 3–0 victory over Randolph. The milestone marks the most consecutive outright titles ever recorded in the tournament’s storied history. Only Morris Catholic’s streak from 1990–1995 surpasses it in total count—but two of those were co-championships when ties were still permitted, making Chatham’s run the most dominant in the modern era.
Leading the way once again was senior standout Amanda Thornton, a Rutgers University commit, who was named the Tournament MVP after scoring one goal and assisting another in the championship match. Thornton’s leadership and playmaking have been central to Chatham’s dynasty, and she delivered once again on the biggest stage.
The Cougars’ attack was balanced and relentless. Lucy Arps contributed a goal and an assist, while Junna Sho added another goal to seal the win. Chatham’s ability to share the scoring load and apply pressure throughout the match proved too much for Randolph’s defense.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Charlotte Nelson turned in a brilliant performance, recording 12 saves to preserve the shutout. Nelson’s composure under pressure was critical—several of her stops came when the game was still scoreless, keeping Chatham in control and setting the tone for the eventual breakthrough.
With the victory, Chatham not only secures another county title but also establishes itself as one of the premier programs in New Jersey girls soccer. A blend of veteran leadership, rising young talent, and a culture of excellence has propelled the Cougars into the record books—and they show no signs of slowing down.
