The Chatham High School boys cross country team delivered an outstanding performance at the Morris County Cross Country Championships, capturing the team title with a total of 73 points and an impressive average time of 16:36 per runner. This is the 2nd year in a row that the Cougars have won the title.
The Cougars placed five runners in the top 30, showcasing their depth, consistency, and competitive drive.
Leading the way for Chatham was senior Marcus Valenzuela, who blazed through the course in 15:17.06, earning the individual county championship with a first-place finish. He was followed closely by senior Brady Byrne, who claimed 7th overall (16:20.53), and senior Santiago Gebara, finishing 18th (17:03.08). Senior Thomas Haines added a strong 19th-place finish (17:03.86), while senior Bautista Gebara rounded out the scoring five with a 28th-place effort (17:19.51).
Also contributing to the Cougars’ depth were senior Luke Allison (45th, 17:54.06) and junior Josh O’Reilly (56th, 18:06.97), both turning in solid performances that reinforced Chatham’s overall dominance in a competitive field.
